CEO of Scribblenauts, whose developer is 5th Cell, has claimed that the upcoming Wii U is “definitely more powerful than XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3″, also saying that the console war on which is better capability-wise quite frustrating.
While being featured in the latest magazine published for Game Informer, Mr. Slaczka stated that the Wii U is better than both of the top-selling consoles, and also said he’s frustrated with what the more powerful console is, saying “It’s definitely more powerful.”
5th Cell, the developer he works for, is currently in the works of Scribblenauts Unlimited, which will be the fourth title in the franchise that’s categorized as a word-based puzzle action game.
“I think we were one of the first developers to see the Wii U,” Slaczka said.
“Nintendo came to our studio and demoed it to us. A couple of weeks later Warner Bros. got to see it, and we said we should do this. This game was originally a Wii title but later moved to Wii U. It’s been about two years in development.”
Also, keep in mind that most developers don’t agree that the Wii U is as powerful as Slaczka claims.
A recent report by Tekken’s producer Katsuhiro Harada said that ”the [Wii U's] clock is kinda low,”, and that the Wii U’s CPU was a bit slower than both the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360′s.
Harada is working on getting Tekken Tag Tournament into Nintendo’s hardware.
The debate is back and forth, but the more favored opinion is that the Wii U is not more powerful than any opposing consoles.
“It’s not up to the same level as the PS3 or the 360,” said a developer in an interview with Games Industry. “It doesn’t produce graphics as well as the PS3 or the 360. There aren’t as many shaders, it’s not as capable,” said another developer.
Also, Epic Games’ Mark Rein stated that it was not ”our intention to bring Unreal Engine 4 to Wii U”, but they had the right props to run it on a Wii U console if they chose.
He stated that Unreal Engine 3, however, “is a really good fit for that platform”.
