Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
( 3rd Person Shooter / Non Duck and Cover )
You are Captain Titus of the Ultra Marines, a legion of “Super Humans”. Each space marine carries a “gene seed” which is a small chunk of DNA from one of the original primarchs. The primarchs were created from the DNA of the “Emperor” so each Space Marine is basically a “Human Like God” amongst other forms of military. You will often be refereed to as, “My Lord” by other forms of military as they look up to your over powering might and skill of a Space Marine.
Embark on a mission that goes from a distress call to something far darker and evil.
Whilst playing this game, you will feel like a walking tank. Captain Titus and his Marines wear blue steel armor only they can wield, with a variety of guns and melee weapons to being utter fucking DESTRUCTION to your foes.
Unlike other games that revolve around health regeneration, Captain Titus recovers his health by brutality killing his foes with “Fatalities”, which are done by stunning enemies with his melee weapon and delivering a gruesome final blow. His armor regenerates over time.
This is not a duck and cover shooter, as these Space Marines take bullets with a smile and rush into battle like it’s all good and shit. Literally.
To my surprise, this was a damn fine game. Some glitches here and there did not hinder my experience at all. Good graphics are also treated to an excellent art direction, which bring to battlefield to life with it’s war torn look and feel.
The campaign is 8-10 hours with nonstop chaos and when your done, feel free to jump on the still populated online multiplayer that also felt quite pleasing to play. This game is free for PS PLUS users and can be purchased for about 15-20$ in stores.
Pros:
Awesome art style.
Great sense of power.
Interesting world and characters.
Solid gun mechanics.
Captain Titus is a well put together character based around honor and integrity.
Populated online multiplayer.
Cons:
Partner AI in the campaign is rather useless.
Enemies sometimes get stuck on terrain.
To many random cutscenes.
Final Score: 8/10
